Lotton Glass Lava & Cypriot Study

As mentioned on the previous page, not all Cypriot vases have a Lava flow on them, as evidenced by the two photos below.

 

This 7-3/4” vase above is a Selenium Red Cypriot base with carefully decorated flows of iridized glass in a drapery pattern, as opposed to a Lava decoration on the Cypriot base which would be in a random pattern as if a volcano had erupted out of the piece. 

This is a wonderful piece that resides in Warner and Kristina Smith’s collection, and can also be found in the Lotton book on page 66, item number 166.

  




The 6 1/2” tall vase above is also a
Cypriot base (yellow and opal colored
glass) with a pulled drapery design
in an iridescent blue color. 

This piece can also be found on page 66 of the Lotton book, item number 168.
