Why does there need to be a secondary market ?

1. There isn’t a way to sell your things without a secondary market because the retailers don’t want to let you know how much of a markup there is on the things you purchase from them. They usually won’t make you an offer to buy back items that you purchased from them and wish to sell.

2. With a secondary market there is always a demand at some level for the things you wish to sell. The price is set by supply and demand so therefore you will always be able to tell if the values of your items are moving up or down.

3. The secondary market allows you to sell to many other people that are looking to buy the things you have for sale.

4. By having a secondary market the spread between the bid and ask for your item will narrow and your purchase price will be less but also your sell price will be greater.

5. The volatility in pricing will be more stable because more people are bidding for your item.

6. This market allows you to get fair and truthful information about the values of the articles that you want to purchase or sell.  Prices on the secondary market adjust as a direct result of supply and demand, not because of a profit margin that a retailer decides they need to make.
 
About pieces for sale or trade

We have thought about how best to implement this page and have come up with the following plan:

• Pieces for sale or trade on this portion of the site will be available to all visitors.

• The pieces will be listed with prices, but the seller’s name will be anonymous. 

• Once a buyer and the seller have agreed on a price or trade arrangement (through the club), then we will put them in contact with each other.  This will provide anonymity to a seller or buyer who may want that until an agreement is reached by both parties. 

• The club will not make a penny of profit for any transactions that originate here; that is not our intention.  If this system does not work out for some reason we will change it, but that’s how it will be set up for now. 

• As soon as we figure out the simplest way to secure these pages, pieces will be listed here.  We do have some pieces for sale and other members have expressed interest in having us get this portion of the site up and running.  This will become our main focus over the next several days, so hang in there!  

SPECIAL: Click on the logo to see everything listed on Ebay with the word “Lotton” in the title or description. Keep in mind that not everything that appears in this search will be Lotton glass, but this is the only way to  find the pieces that may be listed with Lotton in the description but not in the title.  This also shows how highly others feel about Lotton glass by using the word Lotton in their title or description of other makes of glass.
