Just What Is The Lotton Glass Club?

We started this club as a way of gathering, sharing, and preserving information about Lotton Glass. Through photos, descriptions, and stories about particular pieces of glass, we intend to both educate collectors and give new collectors a place to come and learn about the different types of glass that the Lotton family has made and is making today.

In addition, registered members will be able to buy, sell, and trade pieces in the Buy-Sell-Trade area of the site without commissions and completely anonymously until a deal between the buyer and seller has been agreed upon.  At this time, the trader admin will pass the buyer’s and seller’s information on to each party.

Our first love was antique glass, and our initial impression of any modern glass was that it could never been as good or as valuable as the older pieces.  After discovering Lotton glass, learning about it and seeing how remarkably beautiful and well-crafted it is, we sold all of our early glass and now collect only Lotton glass.

Having been in the antique business with a combined collecting and dealing experience time of over 40 years, we feel confident in our belief that there is no finer investment than Lotton glass.  We feel as many others do that the Lotton glass prices will continue to rise at a tremendous rate.

Although we have not been collecting this glass as long as many other collectors, we’ve seen the secondary market prices climb steadily over the past 2 years.  That, coupled with the outstanding beauty of the pieces that the Lottons create makes the Lotton glass not only a good investment, but one that you can be proud of each day as it’s displayed in your home.  As far as we are concerned, there is NO comparison between the Lotton glass and the Daum or Galle’ pieces that we used to collect—the Lotton pieces are FAR more beautiful!  To purists this may seem like an insult, but in reality the technologies developed in the glass blowing trade have evolved over the years, allowing for much more beautiful pieces to be made than what was possible in the past.

We have searched high and low for a Lotton Glass Club, but all that we found outside of the Lotton’s own websites were dealer sites offering pieces for sale, without providing any historical information that a collector would want to know before making such a purchase.   While that’s fine, we feel that it’s imperative to provide information and history on this glass in addition to having a place for members to buy, sell, or trade pieces.  We are so anxious to learn more and share what we do know about this wonderful glass that we decided to take this project on ourselves, with tremendous help and support of our growing membership.

These wonderful Persian Water Sprinklers (above right) were created by Charles Lotton in 1980 and 1981 and now reside in Warner and Kristina Smith’s collection.
